1st day:
Arrival in Bodrum. Transfer to Selçuk. Dinner and overnight in Selçuk. Daily km: +/- 180 km .
2nd day:
Visit to the large area of Ephesus. A walking around through the ruins of Ephesus is the cultural highlight of the journey. The Library Celsus, the Agora, the Theatre, the Odeon, the temple of Hadrian, the harbour road with its columns are powerful act of antique. Dinner and overnight in Selcuk. Daily km: +/- 80 km .
3rd day:
Drive to Smyra, where the Polycarp church is located. Then continue to the fortress Kadifekale. Lunch in Izmir, afterwards shopping in the third biggest city of Turkey. Here lived the holy Polycarp, who was bishop between 115-156. Dinner and overnight in Selçuk. Daily km: +/- 75 km .
4th day:
Drive from Selcuk towards Bergama. Ascend to the Acropolis of Pergamon. The altar of Zeus, which you can admire at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, is located at the hills of acropolis. The library, which has stocked over 200.000 books and was build by German archaeology institutes located at the temple of Trojan. The theatre is the steepest Greek theatre in Anatolia. Afterwards visit to the “Red Hall”, which was an Egyptian temple and a church. Lunch, visiting the heal centre of Asklepion. Dinner and overnight in Bergama. Daily km: +/- 200 km
5th day:
Drive towards Soma to Akhisar, the old Thyateira, where the Purpure Chandler Lydia lived, who meet Paulus in Philippi. Then we will drive to Sardis, which was the capital of Lydia and one of the most important kingdoms of the world. There we will find a well restored high school, the Synagogue, the Agora, some shops and a part of king’s road. After having lunch we will drive to Alaşehir, which was called Philadelphia in the past. Philadelphia and Smyrna were only communes of totally seven, which were reported from Johannes. Drive to Pamukkale. Dinner and overnight here. Daily km: +/- 300 km
6th day:
Drive from Pamukkale to Laodicea. We will find there a large scattered ruin area. A Nympheum, a theatre and a stadium are antique residue of this leg. Afterwards we will drive back to Pamukkale. We will visit the antique town. Hierapolis with its Necropolis, the column road of Agora, the temple of Apollon, the theatre and the Paulus Basilica. In the afternoon individual visit of the lime terrace of Pamukkale. Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale Daily km: +/-40
7th day:
Drive through the lovely landscape of Tavas, the mountains chain of Taurus to Antalya. Shortly tea break at the migrant families. Dinner and overnight in Antalya. Daily km: +/- 280
8th day:
Transfer to the airport Antalya or hotel. |
